Iodine Definition

Iodine is a chemical element which is necessary for the body in order to create the thyroid hormone.
The thyroid hormone helps in metabolism and proper brain and body development.
 

Sources of Iodine

Seafood is the best source of iodine, and also sea salt. Other sources can be dairy products, meet, vegetables, bread, cereal, and more.
 

Lack of Iodine

Lack of iodine may cause hypothyroidism which slows the metabolism causing lack of energy and loss of hair.
Other symptoms caused by lack of thyroids are: weight gain, slow thinking, constipation, and more.
 

Excess of Iodine

Too much iodine may cause the thyroid gland to make too much thyroxin and speed up the person's metabolism which may cause losing weight and lack of energy.
