Fluoride Definition |
Fluoride is a mineral which strengthens enamel which is the coating of the teeth and preventing teeth decay from acids.
The fluoride might be also helpful for osteoporosis since it increases the bone density.

Sources of Fluoride |
|
Water can be a source of fluoride in some areas, dark green vegetables, toothpastes, mouthwash, and more.
|
| |
Lack of Fluoride |
Not enough fluoride can cause decay of the teeth, also known as cavity; the germs on the tooth secrete acids which damages the enamel of the tooth.
Tooth decay is mostly common among children.

Excess of Fluoride |
Too much fluoride may cause enamel fluorosis which appears as white spots on the tooth which may become darker.
It is not harmful but also not esthetic and should be fixed.
