Treat Epilepsy with vitamins

Treat Epilepsy with vitamin E

Studies are being conducted in the role of Vitamin E in helping certain types of seizures.
In animals, it was found out that those injected with substantial doses of Vitamin E are more resistant to seizures that those who weren't given Vitamin E at all. Children are usually advised to take 400 IU of Vitamin E as an aid in their disease.

Vitamin B9 for Epilepsy

Vitamin B9 is popularly known as folic acid.
It was discovered that epileptic patients usually have depleted levels of Vitamin B9. Lowered folic acid content in the body could lead to abnormalities in the formation of red blood cells. Therefore, patients with epilepsy are strongly advised to take Vitamin B9 as a defense against the effects of the disease, including the drugs taken to treat it.

Epilepsy Treatment with Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is alternately called pyridoxal phosphate.
Epileptic episodes can be expected when the body becomes deficient in this vitamin.
Vitamin B6 works closely with magnesium to counter the convulsions associated to the disease.

These three vitamins play a very important role in the cure and prevention of epilepsy.
However, it is strongly advised that patients continue their regular medications. These vitamins are good nutritional supplements to help manage the disease, but it should not be used to replace the medications prescribed by your doctor.

Epilepsy - What is it?

Epilepsy is a very common neurological disorder.
It is characterized by recurring and unprovoked seizures. Experts state that epilepsy is caused by excessive neuronal activities of the brain. However, epilepsy is not a single disease but a collection of syndromes that involves an abnormal electrical brain activity.
It is possible to control epilepsy with the use of drugs and vitamins. There's no absolute cure for epilepsy yet, but its symptoms can be handled.
